For Gourmets
Vrbnička žlahtina
The pleasant light wine of Vrbnička žlahtina is produced and only grown locally in the vineyards of the Vrbnik village on Krk island.
This pale yellow wine is particularly recognizable for its specific young bouquet and pleasant characteristic taste. The freshness which can only be achieved in a colder climate, is characteristic of the northern part of the Adriatic.
The name žlahtina comes from the general Slavic adjective žlahten meaning noble, which is an accurate description of this pleasant lively wine – a great companion of delicious dinner...
Unique sparkling wine from the sea - Valomet
In 2006 a unique experiment was carried out by putting wine bottles into steel-barred chests in the sea, at a depth of 30 metres with the ideal temperature for champagne fermentation.
The results were unexpected; the sea wine was even much better than the one created in the cellar.
Valomet is made exclusively from Vrbnik's žlahtina. Normally, champagnes are made from at least three different grape varieties of which usually one is red, to which a liqueur is added, liqueur that is usually the closely guarded secret of every single producer. Since Žlahtina is naturally
sweet enough, no liqueur is added so the champagne is completely dry and has no sugar.
Valomet sparkling wine has also been awarded with many certificates and awards both for its quality and it´s unique design with the bottles decorated with original corals and shells.
